I've decided that I have way too many accounts to keep up with!
So I'm moving this blog to tumblr, since I'm on tumblr all of the time. And it's MUCH easier to manage.
I'll be posting in English and Japanese so I'll be discontinuing my ameblo as well.
Today is a pretty free day, so I'm going
to visit some sites that I should be familiar with by June 14th.
June 14th is the first day
of International Orientation Leader training!!
International Orientation It's basically a program that allows International incoming students to become better acquainted with activities that happen on and around campus. A leader's job is to aid incoming students with the initial adjustment of move-in and to help them become excited about the school!
I haven't been to many of the sites we're touring so
I'll take the time to visit some of them today (the free ones)
To me, the most important thing for any new student more
than good grades or joining clubs or fraternities
and maternities is a healthy adjustment to the new school.
It took me until my junior year in college to finally adjust
properly to being away from home!
I never really grasped that I eventually had to let go of my
family to properly settle down in my new school.
I remember wanting to go home every weekend to get away from the
stress of school.
I felt isolated and disconnected from my peers and teachers.
I had anxiety. All because I wouldn't let myself open up. It took until this
semester in my psychology class for me to realize that I was
going through what's called "adjustment anxiety".
It's an anxiety disorder that many college students go through
when transitioning to their new college. This is mostly because for many of
them it's their first time being stationed so far from home.
For some people it can last a week, a few weeks, a few months!
Imagine THREE YEARS I struggled with adjustment anxiety.
It all could have been avoided if I had made the effort to
trust somebody to help me remove myself from being
so emotionally dependent on my family.
And I was only two hours away from home.
These are international students. They won't be going home for a
while!!
I want to be able to help them move out of the nervousness and
insecurity that comes with being in an unfamiliar place and help them open up
to all of the wonderful experiences on our campus and tourist attractions.
So far I've secured a part-time job, I'll be an orientation leader for incoming international students in the summer and fall, and I'll be signing the paperwork for and internship so that I can take classes at this dance school for a month! All I have to do is work a certain amount of hours and I don't have to pay!
So now I don't even have to go to that audition that happens during the con anymore because that audition was for the internship I just secured!
I only have one more task and that is to secure another part-time job that will pay for the cons I want to go to this summer.
Then I'll be set!
I can't believe things are actually coming together!
That aside, I went to my part-time job again today.
We worked a bit outside and the weather was wonderful!
I meant to take a picture, but I forgot to put the battery in my camera this morning
I'll take one tomorrow if the weather is good.
In the summer, the sun can be brutal and it makes my skin oily.
But I found a great masque that's both refreshing on my skin and moisturizes well!
This is "Queen Helene's Vitamin C & Honey Peel Off Masque"
You use it write after you've washed your face.
And it's better to apply a heavy coat because then when it dries it's super easy to pull of.
And this is what it looks like after!
It looks like plastic
Then rinse any parts you couldn't peel off easily with warm water, tone and then use moisturizer regularly!
My face feels moisturized and refreshed and smooth to touch even before I use moisturizer after I use this mask.
So nice
And cheap!!
I bought this for about 4 dollars (?) And the best part for me is my skin is extremely sensitive but this doesn't irritate, over-dry your skin or make it feel oily!
And I think I'm going to try something a little different.
I found these kaomoji gif.s on tumblr. They're sourced at this tumblog.
I think think they're adorable so I want to try using them on this blog!
Hope you don't mind !
That aside, it's been pretty rainy the past few days. I've had to run quite a few errands this week so I've been carrying my new umbrella with me at all times!
Isn't it cute!!
I love the handle design!!
A Rirakkuma umbrella that I bought at Kinokuniya!
It's not exactly new because I bought it last summer, but I forgot I had it since I left it in New York.
Until now!
I love it so much!!!
I've been preparing for the summer non-stop this week!!
Job interviews, intership applications, researching for both of those, designing "Dance Panel Panic!" for animeNEXT...
I'm really excited about this summer!
For college students, especially art students, the summer is a pretty important time. It's a chance to find summer jobs to make a little extra money for supplies, or get some field experience in what they're working towards.
So when you're in college, don't let your summer go to waste!
It was my first day working for my teacher. I guess you could say I'm a freelancer?
I pretty much just help her with whatever house work she has.
Yesterday I helped paint her little girls' room.
There names are Violet and Pearl (So cute!)
It's funny because the color we used to paint the wall was called pearl-violet! Coincidence?
I think not!!
I got paint in my hair and on my clothes but I have to say. Painting is pretty soothing. ( ̄ー ̄)
After "work" I changed out of my paint clothes and into some summery ones!!
Yesterday's outfit
I've missed girly clothes so much!! chu♥(人´3`)⌒♡
I haven't worn a dress in months!
Some of my friends were in the area so I hung out with them for a while (until 2am XD)
We spent the day window shopping and watched Disney and Studio Ghibli movies!! (Spirited Away ♥)
I had to be up by eight the next morning and felt (feel) SUPER tired but I don't regret staying out late.
Btw...
NEW DANCE
It's called Vegitaryhthm and it's sung and danced by the AMAZING Kyary Kids!!
I don't do this dance justice. it's kind of sloppy and some moves are just flat out wrong, but I had so much fun doing it and I've been dying to cover something new for a LONG TIME.
No regrets!! ^____^
And hopefully I'll get to record it again with Ari!!
Thank you to everyone who rooted me on for Oishii! Project.
Unfortunately I didn't get in, but congrats to those who did!!
I didn't get in but that's okay because to be quite honest I've had just about enough of the youtubing world.
There are so many sweethearts and yet there are so many petty people who try to take them down.
The more I read forums and hateful blog posts the more disappointed I become in the maturity level of some people.
And the worst of it has definitely been the adults!!
Sending messages to girls accusing them of copying an idea that's not even yours to make them feel bad
Seriously?!?
You're a mother!! Act like it!!
Be a good example for your daughter and stop attacking teenage girls for no reason!!
Just why?!
Part of the problem is that we live in an age of instant gratification.
So much information is so easily accessible that people take it for granted.
Some people think that just because you put a little bit of effort into a few videos that you're entitled to this HUGE fanbase and everyone should watch you and applaud you.
Maximum reward for minimal effort is not how the real world works.
There are so many determining factors for internet popularity including, timing, looks, talent and believe it or not, luck.
Moreover the average youth's self esteem is more fragile than an egg shell.
The minute they aren't showered in affection for their efforts they fall into a bout of self- pity and then everyone has to rush to them and say things like
"don't give up" and "but you're so awesome" and "you deserve more views!" and just...
I'm tired of it.
Part of it is adolescence and the fact that you don't know entirely who you are or where you fit in.
And that's fine.
But even when I was in high school (which really wasn't that long ago I mean I'm only 20) I understood that when people don't notice your efforts it's either because you need to put in more time and work or there's someone who's better than you. That;s how it is in every field
I understood that, accepted it and decided that I wouldn't let it stop me from getting what I want and that it becoming a professional dancer/ choreographer
In the dance world, there are thousand of people who want the exact same thing that you want and the reality of the situation is that you just might not get it. And it doesn't mean you're terrible. It just means that someone is better than you or you're not what they're looking for.....
I mean there could be hundreds of reasons, not all of the burden is on you.
My point is failure should never discourage you from doing what you love.
It's okay to be disappointed. It sucks, but it's part of life.
We keep going.
And the fact that you could post some half-hearted video and get a million views and become famous is becoming less and less appealing because now people are expecting it.
People like Beckii Cruel and Kimonotime aren't born everyday.
Youtube dancing is fun!! And I won't stop until I have to for that reason alone!
But people expect so much out of it, it's scary.
I mean, Venus's mother is dedicating her daughter's teenage years to it!
She's missing out of friends and going to regular school and...
It's all over attracting an invisible audience.
I just.
I think I'll just stick to my quarter annually dance video and my bros that I know have a better sense of reality :)
Hey Look!!
Picture from this past weekend's performance!
I wasn't in this particular piece but I took a picture with the charcoal sketches anyways!
It was so cool!
Two artists sketched these live as the dance happened :D
I love dance ♥
And now I have to sleep because I haven't had a day off in over two weeks!!
I performed Friday, Saturday and twice on Sunday for the last of my school's dance showcases.
The dance showcase is the main reason why I haven't blogged regularly. Just last week I've had 10 to 8 days with no break because of tech rehearsal on top of regular rehearsals and classes.
It was draining and sometimes stressful but still loads of fun. About fifteen of my family members showed up for the matinee Sunday performance O.o
I was so surprised!! I'm so glad they came! ヽ(‘ ∇‘ )ノ ワーイ
Thank you Mom for telling everyone about it and bringing them!!
(人´3`)⌒♡
I love my family ♥
Now all I have to worry about are finals and I will be in
(ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ SUMMER MODE
Omg I'm going to be a Senior in college next semester. Technically I already am. What am I even doing this summer. Everyone's at least doing a summer intensive or something....
Anguish ( ´◒` )
....
My dismal future aside, Ari brought me a USB chord when she was here to visit,so I uploaded some pictures from Reni's Maid Show onto our facebook page
But here are a few others
じゃん!!
Here's the outifts we wore. Ari's pants are from Uniqlo, short from H&M and jacket bought off of Yesstyle!
My pants were bought from H&M and the top is part of my sailor fuku
We went shopping especially for this event in SOHO
Uniqlo in Soho
One Piece T-shirts!!! (I pictures for you Xhu)
At the converse store!!
It's the American flag made out of sneakers
Awesome
I have some video footage from when we went to Reni's Maid club. Maybe I'll put it together to make a vlog or something....maybe
We got a picture with Reni!! (She's so cute)
I ordered the mango shrimp for lunch!!
Shrimp, with actual slices of mango and a mango sauce (?)
It was delicious!!!
Last week I posted my audition for Oishii! Ichigo Project. It's an online international singing group!!
There are over 50 entries. I hope my stands out among the masses><
Mine was a bit rushed because I was coming straight from rehearsal and had to run to the library shortly afterwards. It was literally the only time I had to record.
I wish I had more time to do a more decent job (I'm in sweats for Pete's sake)
But it is the best I could do at the time so hopefully it'll be enough.
The deadline was today so good luck to everyone who entered!
